Back to school season is here along with after school sports. Your child will have a chance to participate in sports and other physical activities such as physical education throughout the school year. These are fun activities that encourage movement, sportsmanship, and making friends (among the younger set). Yet, there is also a chance for injury. Such as, scraped knees, concussions, broken bones, or sprained wrists or ankles.
Injury to a limb or joint may require physical therapy. Especially if your child:
- Frequently vocalizes that they are in pain
- Have difficulty with movement
- The joint/limb is painful to move or is swollen
Physical therapy can help your child regain mobility and reduce pain so they can get out on the field and play again.
Remember: It is important for kids to get physical examinations if the sport or team requires one. Ice any hurts or physical ailments for 20 minutes on and off. If you are concerned or your child says that they are in pain enough that it distresses or distracts them, please come visit our clinic.
